Chimney repair in Atlanta, GA
Masonry, crowns, flashing, liners and leaks. We find what is wrong with your chimney and fix it ourselves, with a written quote first.
Brick lasts a very long time. Mortar, crowns, flashing and flue liners do not. Rain, summer heat and the occasional freeze slowly open up cracks, and once water gets into the masonry it speeds up the damage from the inside. Fixing it early is almost always simpler and cheaper than waiting.
Tuckpointing
When mortar joints crumble, recess or wash out, we grind out the damaged mortar and pack in fresh mortar matched as closely as we can to your existing joints. It restores the strength of the chimney and stops water getting in through the joints.
Crown repair and rebuilds
The crown is the concrete or mortar cap that covers the top of the chimney around the flue. Cracks in the crown let water straight down into the chimney. We seal small cracks and rebuild crowns that are past saving, with a proper overhang so water drips clear of the brick.
Flashing repair
Flashing is the metal seal where your chimney meets the roof. Loose, rusted or badly sealed flashing is one of the most common causes of leaks we see. We repair or replace it so the joint between chimney and roof stays watertight.
Chimney liners
The liner is the inner wall of your flue. It carries smoke and gases out of the house and protects the surrounding brick and wood framing from heat. Cracked or shifted clay tiles, damage after a chimney fire, an older chimney built without a liner, or a new insert or stove that needs a correctly sized flue are the usual reasons a liner needs attention.
Liner damage is usually invisible from the fireplace, so we run a camera up the flue and show you the footage and photos. For most homes the practical fix is a stainless steel liner, sized to your appliance and installed from the top of the chimney down.
Leaks and waterproofing
A leak near the chimney can come from the crown, the flashing, an uncapped flue, cracked mortar or the brick itself. We trace where the water is actually coming from, photograph it and fix that cause, rather than coating over the problem.
Once the chimney is sound, we can apply a breathable water repellent made for masonry. It keeps rain from soaking into the brick while still letting moisture inside escape, which ordinary paints and sealers do not.
One team, start to finish
We photograph the problem before we start and the finished work when we are done, so you can see exactly what you paid for. Because we do masonry, flashing, caps and liners ourselves, you are not passed between contractors.

Something else on your mind? Call (678) 923-3593 and ask.
How do I know if my chimney needs repair?
Look for crumbling or missing mortar, white staining on the brick, loose or spalling bricks, cracks in the crown or water marks on the ceiling or wall near the chimney. If you see any of these, an inspection will tell you how far the damage goes.
How do I know if my liner is damaged?
Usually you cannot tell from inside the house. A camera inspection of the flue, which is part of a Level 2 inspection, is the reliable way to find cracks, gaps and missing tiles.
Can I just paint a sealer on the brick?
Many general-purpose sealers trap moisture inside the brick, which can make damage worse. Masonry chimneys need a breathable repellent, and the source of the leak needs fixing first.
