Fireplace inserts

An insert is a closed firebox that fits inside your existing fireplace. It burns more efficiently than an open fire, puts more heat into the room and keeps smoke and drafts out of the house. Inserts are available for wood or gas.

Choosing the right insert

We look at the size and condition of your fireplace and chimney and how you want to use it, then help you choose an insert that fits. Most inserts need a chimney liner sized to the unit, so we check the manufacturer’s requirements before anything is ordered.

Installation

We install the insert and its liner, keep your floors covered while we work and clean up when we are done. Before we leave, we show you how to use and look after your new insert.

Wood-burning fireplaces

We check and repair the firebox, including cracked or loose firebrick and failed mortar joints, along with the damper, smoke chamber and hearth. Small firebox repairs done early stop heat reaching the framing behind the fireplace.

Gas fireplaces and gas logs

Gas fireplaces still need regular attention. We clean the burner and logs, check the pilot assembly and ignition, look at the venting and flue, and make sure the logs are positioned the way the manufacturer intended so the flame burns cleanly.

As with everything we do, you get photos of what we found and a clear explanation of any work we recommend.
